What is the City of Marion?
The City of Marion is a local government area in the southern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia.
It is one of the state’s larger metropolitan councils and is located 10km south of Adelaide stretching from the Glenelg tramline in Glandore to the coastal suburb of Hallett Cove.
Covering an area of about 55 km sq, the city has a population of approximately 85,000 residents and features 7km of coastline.
Being only a 20 minute drive to the southwest of Adelaide, the City of Marion offers easy access to a mix of ecological, cultural, sporting, leisure and shopping experiences. All this against a backdrop of hills, open space and the coast!

Living Kaurna Cultural Centre
Set in the Warriparinga Wetlands and offering indigenous and environmental education programs, events and cultural performances.
Marion Cultural Centre
Located between Westfield Shopping Centre and the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre and including a theatre, meeting rooms, art gallery, café, foyer, plaza, art gallery and a library.
Westfield Marion Shopping Centre
The largest shopping centre in South Australia is situated in the heart of Marion at 297 Diagonal Road, Oaklands Park and offers a range of shopping and entertainment options in the community.
Marion Outdoor Swimming Centre
A premier open air swimming facility set in grassed and shady grounds and located in the heart of Marion, offering summertime fun and relaxation for everyone including a 70 metre waterslide.
SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre
A world-class aquatic and recreation facility for athletes, swimming clubs and casual swimmers.
Marion Coastal Walking Trail
This stunning walk extends 7.2 km from Marino in the north to Hallett Headland Reserve in the south, and features rugged cliffs, small coves and a rocky coast.
Southern Marion’s Historic Hills
This heritage drive gives an idea of the natural history and development of the southern section of Marion from Marino to Hallett Cove.

Sturt River Linear Park
A shared use trail that meanders along the Sturt River past historic buildings, significant fauna and environmental sites, as well as important local features.
Home to the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre, Warriparinga is a unique site in the heart of Marion with significant Kaurna, European and environmental features.
A new wetland will form the centrepiece of the new reserve, nestled amongst the existing magnificent gum trees that grace the site.
Marion Library Service
Consisting of three branches in the suburbs of Oaklands Park, Hallett Cove and Park Holme, and offering a range of services and facilities to the City of Marion community, as well as visitors to the area.

Public transport is one of the easiest and most cost effective methods of getting around the City of Marion.
Ticketing is standardised across the bus, train and tram systems with single, multi and day tip tickets available.
Tickets can be purchased on-board trams, trains and buses through please note that driver only carry limited change. Tickets can also be purchased from most newsagents and information centres.
