The City of Marion is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and taking preventative measures to improve the health of all residents in our community.
Marion Council has received funding from the Federal Government to provide a series of physical activity and healthy eating programs to the community in a bid to support healthy lifestyles.

What's happening
Win a 2 night stay at Marion Holiday Park
Go to any five Healthy Communities sessions at our neighbourhood centres to be in the draw to win a holiday!
- Win a two night stay in a self-contained cabin for up to 6 people at the Marion Holiday Park overlooking the beautiful grounds of Warriparinga and wetlands. Valued at up to $500.
All adults living in City of Marion can enter. Entry postcards can be picked up from:
- Cooinda, Glandore, Mitchell Park or Trott Park Neighbourhood Centres
- Hallett Cove, Marion and Park Holme libraries
When five sessions listed on the postcard have been attended, the postcard can be placed in blue boxes at the reception of any of the Neighbourhood Centres or sent directly to the Healthy Communities Team.
Eligibility to enter
All adults aged 18 years and over, who are not in full time employment and reside within the City of Marion are eligible to enter.
Entrants need to complete and return a Give it a Go! Healthy Communities WIN! WIN! WIN! a HOLIDAY! postcard once attendance at any 5 sessions of Healthy Communities supported activities has been signed off.
Ineligible entries will not be included in the prize draw.
Entry opening and closing dates
Entries open Monday 22 April 2013 and close Saturday 6 July 2013. The winning entry will be drawn at City of Marion, 245 Sturt Road, Sturt on Monday 8 July 9.30am.
The prize
The prize is a 2 night mid-week stay for up to 6 people at Marion Holiday Park, 323 Sturt Road, Bedford Park and up to the value of $500. If the prize is not redeemed by 27 September 2013, the prize draw winner will forfeit any right to the prize.
Notification of winning entry
The winner will be notified in writing within 14 days of the draw with details on how the prize can be claimed. Winning entry details will be advertised in the Messenger Guardian newspaper and on the City of Marion website.
Conditions of holiday booking
Accommodation can be booked from 22 July 2013 and used by 27 September 2013. The prize winner can book a mid-week 2 night stay in a cabin of their choice up to a total value of $500 and up to 6 people and subject to availability at the time of booking. Bookings are limited to the off peak season and cannot be made on weekends, public holidays or school holidays. The prize is not transferrable and any associated costs cannot be claimed from City of Marion.
This initiative is funded by the Australian Government.

Grow Eat Move (GEM) Program
Grow Eat Move is part of the Healthy Communities Initiative. The program aims to teach people how to grow an edible garden, cook healthy meals, and encourages giving physical activity a go.

The Healthy Communities Initiative (HCI): A Healthy Lifestyle Approach aims to help reduce the prevalence of overweight and obesity within the target populations of participating communities by maximising the number of adults engaged in physical activity and healthy eating programs.
