Domain Theatre - Performance/Function

The Domain Theatre is an intimate performance space with unobstructed viewing for everyone in the audience. Its flexibility makes it ideal for all types of performance including, theatre, cabaret, comedy and dance.

The Theatre is fully equipped with performance quality audio and lighting systems. It has a fully retractable cinema screen which doubles as the cyclorama enabling it to be used for both movie projection and live performances. The optimum performance configuration is 255 audience with 8m x 5m stage area and 1m wing spaces. Hiring the Domain Theatre for performances includes access to our skilled theatre technicians at no additional cost.

The Green Room is also included in performance hire and can be divided into two small dressing rooms, both with direct access to backstage. The Green Room is equipped with basins, mirrors, cupboards and an iron for costumes. Box office and front of house services are also available, additional costs apply.

Domain Theatre - Seminar/Workshop

The Domain Theatre can transform into a stunning venue for larger seminars, workshops, presentations, training sessions and expos.  It is extremely versatile enabling seating arrangements to be tailored to your needs.

All seminars and workshops have access to the following equipment at no additional cost:

  • Interactive whiteboard.
  • Laptop.
  • Data projector.
  • Portable screen.
  • Electronic whiteboard.
  • Flip chart.
  • Display boards.
  • Lectern.
  • Portable PA system.
  • Internet/Wi-fi.

All equipment allocated on a first in, first served basis.

Seminar
Capacity up to 280 people. 
Features:  Suitable for larger seminars, versatile seating which can be tailored to your needs, movable proscenium curtain system, large projection screen, interactive whiteboard, laptop, data projector, portable screen, electronic whiteboard, flip chart, display boards, lectern, portable PA system, internet/Wifi. All equipment allocated on a first in first served basis.

Workshop
Capacity up to 120 people.

Sturt Room

The Sturt Room is ideal for medium sized workshops, training sessions, presentations and seminars.

It also acts as an auxiliary room with doors opening direct to the Domain Theatre.

Features: Workshop participants seated at tables of up to 8. Ideal for training sessions, brainstorming, education and collaborative work.

U-Shape
Capacity up to 17 attendees.
Features: Seated around tables this format provides a cohesive environment for up to 17 participants. Ideal for meetings, training session and presentations.

Seminar
Capacity up to 50 attendees.
Features: Ideal for seminars, presentations and information sessions for up to 50 audience members.

Green Room

The Green Room can be used as one large dressing room or divided into two smaller dressing rooms.

It can also be used as a meeting room for up to 20 people ideal for smaller workshops, training sessions, confidential meetings and interviews.

Signatures Café provides catering for all events held in the Marion Cultural Centre. The Café is licensed and serves a range of food and beverages from light refreshments to full banquet service.

Plaza

 MCC-Plaza

The Plaza has been designed as a timeless contemporary space making for a flexible and inviting community gathering place.

The two main elements of the Plaza, the undulating lawn and the band of paving slate that intersects the area, are a landscape interpretation of a creek bed flowing from the hills to the sea. 

The Plaza is ideal for community markets and expos and offers high visibility within the Domain Precinct.

Foyer

The foyer is a flexible, split-level, open space and the hub of the centre’s three other functional zones with links to the outside plaza space.

It can operate as a main lobby/ reception area, function/expo area, catering area with partial/ full exposure to the plaza or performance area with the steps providing an informal amphitheatre.

Please note: The foyer is only available for hire Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm unless booked with another room.
