City of Marion is committed to providing individual quality services to older people and their carers, to promote their independence.

These programs are funded through the Commonwealth and the City of Marion to provide services including the following:

Community Care

The main aim of our service is to promote, provide and support your independence, enabling you to live at home while maintaining your wellbeing and social connections.

  • Home maintenance
  • Home modifications
  • Gutter cleaning
  • Domestic Assistance
  • Gardening and yard tidy
  • Social support and participation (assisting you to stay socially connected, shop and attend medical appointments)
  • Wave Makers (low impact water exercise program with a focus on wellness and reablement)
  • Provide information on how and where to access services

Neighbourhood Centres

The four City of Marion Neighbourhood Centres offer a variety of groups, classes and activities that supports your wellbeing, lifelong learning, social connections and independence.

  • Social groups
  • Monthly lunches
  • Guest speakers
  • Information sessions
  • A range of exercise classes suitable for all levels of fitness
  • Men’s groups – Blokes Drop In Wednesday and Blokes Time Out
  • Monthly health and wellbeing sessions – The Good Life and Living Well
  • Delicious and affordable meals
  • Polish, Italian, Greek and Persian groups
  • Transport to our Neighbourhood Centres
  • Fortnightly bus trips

Community Bus

Providing a door to door transport solution for the transport disadvantaged to the following destinations:

  • Westfield Marion
  • Castle Plaza
  • Park Holme and Hallett Cove shopping centres
  • Marion Cultural Centre and Park Holme Librariy
  • City of Marion Adult Recreation Centres
  • Active Elders
  • Mitchell Park senior citizens clubs 
  • Monthly Sunday trips

Community Passenger Network

A coordinating link between people who need transport services and those who can provide transport services.

We provide a transport information and coordination service for:

  • The frail and elderly
  • People with disabilities
  • The transport disadvantaged

Residing in the Inner Southern Region; Cities of Marion, Holdfast Bay and Mitcham.

If you are an older person and would like to refer yourself:

Access to funded service/s is assessed through My Aged Care on the basis of eligibility, individual need and the capacity of the program to meet that need. There may be a waiting list for some Community Care services, a person is advised at the time of enquiry. Services are subject to availability of resources and may vary from time to time. Services are not available if you are moving out of your home.
